DEEP RUN — Traditional volleyball power South Lenoir swept James Kenan 25-13, 25-15, 22-25 during their East Central 2A volleyball contest inside Munn Gymnasium.

Tigers’ sophomore Y’Anna Rivers stuffed her stat sheet with two kills, three aces, two blocks and two digs.

“Y’Anna played a good game,” Kenan head coach Katina Farrior said. “Rivers can turn a bad set into a good hit or kill.”

Alayjah Wright collected two kills, three aces, one block and one dig. Ava Jones registered a team-best three kills and had one dig. Kierra Williams supplied one kill, one block and two digs. Jourdan Joe contributed two kills and one dig.

Shylah Sloan logged one kill, one ace and two digs. Genesis Corea picked up two digs, while Sienna Pender notched an ace and one dig.

Jones currently leads the team with 62 kills.

Rivers has 59 kills, 26 aces and 13 blocks for the season. Sloan has 37 kills and 15 blocks, while Kierra Williams is the team’s block-party leader with 23.

James Kenan (6-7 overall, 1-7 ECC) looks to halt a five-game slide Tuesday at Kinston. South Lenoir (9-6, 5-3) improved to 5-2 in home outings this season and entertains Southwest Onslow next Tuesday.
