WARSAW — Robert Ordones punched in two goals Wednesday evening during James Kenan’s 5-0 conquest of East Central 2A boys’ soccer foe Southwest Onslow.

Francisco Roldan, Kebert David and Ronald Ramirez provided one goal apiece for the Tigers on the Bill Taylor Field pitch.

“We pretty much kept the ball on our half of the field the first half,” Kenan head coach Mitchell Quinn said. “I don’t think they had any shots the first half. We moved the ball okay at times, but we still need to learn how to pass out of trouble instead of trying to dribble out of trouble.

“[We] came out the second half and still some of the same stuff [surfaced], yet we were able to score three goals.”

Quinn said the match ended around the 68-minute mark due to an injury to an SWO player, who was taken to the hospital.

The Tigers (7-2 overall, 3-0 ECC) extended their win streak to three games and remained unbeaten in five home outings this season. The defense recorded its sixth shutout of the season.

Kenan is the guest of ECC foe North Lenoir today.
