WCC’s Allied Health graduates honored at Pinning Ceremony

GOLDSBORO — Wayne Community College’s Workforce Continuing Education Services held a pinning ceremony to recognize the summer graduates of its Allied Health programs.

Students in the College’s Nurse Aide I, Dialysis Technician, and Phlebotomy programs received pins and certificates at the ceremony to signify the successful completion of their courses.

During the ceremony, the graduates were led in an oath by their instructors, and special recognition was made for those with the highest grade point average in each class. Nurse Aide I graduates Morales-Perez, Braden, and Fryar; Dialysis Technician graduate Demezier; and Phlebotomy graduates LeRoy and Mosley were recognized for this achievement.

WCC President Patty Pfeiffer told graduates they were filling a vital need for quality healthcare workers. “You will use your training for the betterment of healthcare and the industry that hopefully you will serve in the near future,” she said.

“This audience is definitely proud of you and all of your accomplishments,” WCC Vice President of Workforce Continuing Education Services and Community Engagement Renita Dawson told the graduates during the ceremony. “We look forward to the great things that each of you will do in your careers.”

Nurse Aide I graduates are eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program exam necessary for certification and listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry.

After one year of work experience, Dialysis Technician graduates are eligible for national certification as clinical hemodialysis technicians.

The Phlebotomy program prepares graduates for the National Phlebotomy Certification Examination.
