GOLDSBORO — Two Wayne Community College faculty members have been honored with the college’s 21st set of “Distinguished Chair” awards.
Transportation Department Chair Kevin Jordan and EMS Instructor/Coordinator Kim Boswell each received a trophy and a monetary prize to use for travel or professional development.
The Distinguished Chair awards recognize outstanding full-time curriculum faculty members who have distinguished themselves at the College and in the community. The awards are made possible by an annual gift to the Foundation of WCC by an anonymous donor.
Jordan has been a WCC faculty member for over 15 years. His nomination for the award noted that he “embraced the value of being a student-friendly instructor” and that Jordan’s team has prospered under his leadership. His supervisor said, “He never asks anything from his team that he would not be willing to do himself.”
Boswell began teaching at WCC part time in 2006 and became the full-time EMS coordinator in 2011. Her supervisor said she brings a positive high energy to any situation and is “the picture of selfless service.” Boswell was described as kind and compassionate and someone who “always goes above and beyond the call of duty in pursuing excellence and helping others.”
