Spring Creek native Kathy Larson has announced her plans to run for the Wayne County Public Schools Board of Education’s at-large seat.

Larson, who is a parent in the Spring Creek community, has served the last few years on the elementary school’s PTA and is very involved in other areas of the school. The candidate says she plans to bring her knowledge and passion for education to the table and through her track record will show her strengths of leadership, advocacy and community involvement.

“I plan to continue to work to foster collaborative communication between community stakeholders, staff, and school leaders to better the lives of all students across Wayne County ,” Larson said. “I am running for the school board to ensure that every student has access to safe campuses and high-quality education, regardless of their background or circumstances. I believe we can all work together to build a brighter future for our students and families.”

As part of her campaign, Larson says she wants to be a voice for parents, give teachers and staff the support they need to succeed, be a bridge between board, staff, and community to work together to meet the needs of our diverse student population, and advocate for every student in Wayne County with the heart of a mom.

“With grassroots efforts in the Spring Creek community, we’ve been able to get a lot of school safety and improvement projects completed,” Larson added. “As a member of the school board, I will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our schools are places where every student can thrive, every teacher and staff member can succeed, and every voice is heard.”

Every Wayne County resident who is registered to vote in Wayne County can vote for the at-large seat in November.
