GREENSBORO — Three local athletes competed in the 2024 NC High School Athletic Association indoor track and field championships contested at NC A&T State University.

Spring Creek’s James Cabrera placed 12th overall in the boys’ 1,600-meter run during the 1A-2A state finals. He completed the one-mile event on the JDL Fast Track in 4 minutes, 46.25 seconds.

North Duplin’s Marcus Hill battled strong competition in the 55-meter hurdles and finished 14th in the preliminary heat. He posted a time of 8.43 seconds.

Southern Wayne junior Jy’Asha Cousins placed 10th in the 55-meter hurdles on the 3A side. The Quad County Conference champion crossed the line in 8.84 seconds.
