DUDLEY — Nevaeh-Hines Bass emerged as the lone player in double figures with 15 points Friday evening during Southern Wayne’s 55-30 loss to Quad County 3A girls’ basketball foe Wilson Hunt.
Hines-Bass and senior center Wilberline Senatus pulled down five rebounds apiece for the Saints, who tumbled to 7-13 overall and 4-6 against QCC opposition this season.
Sophomore Aaliyah Williams supplied five points. Kymora Stokes contributed four points. Myhirah Hunter, Yme JeanBaptiste and Senatus collected two points apiece.
The Warriors claimed their third straight win over the Saints.
Southern Wayne plays host to QCC member South Johnston next Tuesday. Tip-off is 6 p.m. at “The Halo.”
Panthers turn back Gators
KENLY — Spring Creek converted just nine field goals and couldn’t overcome 20 turnovers in their 42-33 setback Friday evening against Neuse Six 2A girls’ hoops foe North Johnston.
Trinity Daniels tallied 12 points and snared six rebounds for the Gators, who are 0-15 all-time against the Panthers since 2007. Daniels shot 7 of 12 at the free throw line.
Kiarah Pearson contributed 11 points. Junior center Heather Alexander chipped in eight points and grabbed a team-leading 11 rebounds. Emily Williams notched two points and four rebounds.
Spring Creek (6-11 overall, 1-4 Neuse Six 2A) continues a three-game road swing Tuesday at Eastern Wayne.
Warriors stop Saints
DUDLEY — Chris Carmon led three Southern Wayne players in double figures with 16 points in a 64-53 loss to Quad County 3A rival Hunt on Friday evening.
Point guard Kairel Evans scratched for 11 points, while DaQuan Stevenson knocked down 10 points. Jayden Hardy registered eight points in the scorebook.
The teams were tied 15-15 after one quarter.
Hunt outscored Southern Wayne 21-9 in the second period and held a 36-24 lead at halftime.
The Saints (7-13 overall, 3-7 QCC) return home Tuesday for a QCC battle against South Johnston.
Rebel JV boys fall
CALYPSO — Holden Williams turned in a 13-point effort during North Duplin’s 49-47 loss to Neuse Charter on the Carolina 1A Conference scene Friday afternoon.
Lucas Dail tallied six points. Lucas Gregory and Christopher Kornegay provided four points apiece.
The Rebels entertain Lakewood next Tuesday.
