SALEMBURG — North Duplin halted an eight-game skid against Lakewood with a resounding, 71-46 victory on the Carolina 1A Conference boys’ basketball scene Friday evening.

After sitting out the first semester, Donovan Armwood dropped in a team-leading 13 points for the Rebels. DuJuan Armwood knocked down 12 points, while senior guard Brady Byrd tallied 11 points.

Dylan Tyndall and Anthony Kornegay scored seven points apiece.

“Best complete game we have played all year, both on offense and defense,” Rebels head coach Jeff Byrd said. “Offensively, I thought we moved and shared the ball the best we have in several weeks. We were a lot more aggressive on crashing the boards tonight, which limited their second-chance points.”

North Duplin led 40-35 at halftime.

The Rebels limited the Leopards to 13 points in the second half.

“Hopefully, we can build on this going into next week,” coach Byrd said.

Union is the guest of North Duplin (5-9 overall, 1-1 Carolina) on Tuesday, while Lakewood (4-6, 1-1) visits county rival Hobbton.
