Due to potentially dangerous inclement weather, Wayne County Public Schools and Duplin County Public Schools students will be dismissed early Tuesday.
According to Kristy Johnson from DCPS, students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m.
WCPS officials will send students home three hours early.
The forecast calls for the threat of high, straight-line winds that could impact buses on the road. Heavy rain is possible and could cause flash flooding in low-lying areas.
All after-school activities, including athletics, are canceled.
Southern Wayne was scheduled to play at Hunt on the Quad County 3A basketball scene. The Saints swept a varsity doubleheader from QCC foe West Johnston last Friday.
The Saints’ wrestling team was scheduled to face county rival Eastern Wayne at North Lenoir. Head coach Tori King said he hoped to get the match moved to Thursday at Southern Wayne.
Neither Spring Creek nor North Duplin have athletic contests scheduled for Tuesday. The two teams meet each other on the hardwood Wednesday in “The Swamp.”
James Kenan travels to South Lenoir on Wednesday.
