GOLDSBORO — Due to potentially dangerous inclement weather, Wayne County Public Schools students will be dismissed three hours early Tuesday.

The forecast calls for the threat of high, straight-line winds that could impact buses on the road. Heavy rain is possible, which could lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas.

All after-school activities, including athletics, are canceled.

Southern Wayne was scheduled to play at Hunt on the Quad County 3A basketball scene. The Saints swept a varsity doubleheader from West Johnston last Friday.

The Saints’ wrestling team was scheduled to face county rival Eastern Wayne at North Lenoir. Head coach Tori King said he hoped to get the match moved to Thursday at Southern Wayne.

Spring Creek does not have any events scheduled. The Gators entertain border rival North Lenoir on the hardwood Wednesday evening. The JV boys tip off at 4:30 p.m. in “The Swamp.”
