GOLDSBORO — Southern Wayne remained winless in five outings this season with a 48-31, non-conference loss to cross-county girls’ basketball rival Eastern Wayne on Friday evening.

Nevaeh Hines-Bass emerged as the Saints’ offensive leader with 15 points.

Nygeria Thompson provided eight points and nine rebounds. Kyren Strong contributed four points, four rebounds and picked the Warriors for four steals.

Destiny Bullock and Aaliyah Williams combined for three points.

The Saints return home Tuesday to face Goldsboro.
