Each year, the National FFA organization recognizes individuals who have provided exceptional support of school-based agricultural education and FFA. At this year’s National Convention in Indianapolis, Indianna, Dr. Sandy Maddox received a VIP Citation for her outstanding contributions in supporting the next generation of leaders. Maddox retired as Dean for the University of Mount Olive’s School of Agriculture and Biological Sciences in May and continues to work with the university on special ag-related projects.
The VIP Citation honors individuals who have dedicated more than 20 years of service to FFA and agricultural education. Maddox’s extensive career in agriculture spans over four decades. A master relationship builder, the countless hours Maddox has donated to students is staggering. Former students call her friend, mentor, and coach.
In their presentation to Maddox, The National FFA Organization noted, “It is our honor to recognize your support of FFA and agricultural education publicly. FFA continues to grow and make a difference in the lives of our members nationwide thanks to dedicated and outstanding individuals like you.”
“We are so proud of Dr. Maddox and the work she has done and continues to do,” said UMO President Dr. H. Edward Croom. “I can think of no one more deserving of this award than Sandy.”
Maddox lives in Surf City.
