Perfection achieved. The University of Mount Olive women’s field hockey team polished off an unbeaten campaign in South Atlantic Conference play with a 5-2 triumph over Lander University on Saturday afternoon.

Amber Dercksen scored twice for the Trojans, who improved to 15-1 overall and 14-0 against SAC opposition this season.

Nikki Pos collected UMO’s first goal — a rebound shot by Annefleur Moerkerken. Derksen scored the second goal. Avery Congleton, Derksen and Sophia Frugoni each provided a second-half goal.

Trojan goalie Alanna Barrett notched six saves.

Ranked No. 3 in the Atlantic Region and No. 5 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II poll, the Trojans return home Friday for semifinal-round play in the SAC tournament. UMO opposes either Belmont Abbey (7-7) or Lander (9-5).
