The Duplin County Community Foundation has awarded $15,840 in grants to organizations supporting the local community.
The board of advisors granted:
• $1,000 to Diaper Bank of NC for Distributing Dignity: meeting diaper need in Duplin County
• $2,000 to Diversity Nurtures Achievement Community Youth Center for Thriving to Survive @ DNA and 4-H Project
• $2,000 to Duplin Christian Outreach Ministries for Feed Our Hungry Children, school-year and summer backpacks
• $1,000 to Duplin County Senior Services for Senior Scam Jam 2023
• $2,000 to Duplin County Sheriff’s Office for Officer D.A.R.E. program
• $590 to First Missionary Baptist Church of Magnolia Ministries, Inc. for Saturday Academy
• $500 to Made4Me, Inc. for Making Abilities Possible Project
• $750 to Mediation Center of Eastern Carolina – Duplin for Duplin Kindness Project
• $1,000 to Mediation Center of Eastern Carolina – Duplin for Duplin Teen Court Ambassadors
• $1,000 to Pet Friends of Duplin County for low cost spay/neuter program
• $500 to Prevent Blindness North Carolina for Star Pupils Duplin County
• $500 to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Triangle for Duplin County Care Fund
• $1,000 to Ronald McDonald House of Eastern NC for Duplin County families
• $2,000 to Rones Chapel Area Community Center (RCACC) for Tutor to the Top, with $1,000 to be used only for Duplin County students only
Funds for the grants came from DCCF’s community grantmaking fund and the Duplin Foundation for Youth Advancement fund.
“It’s a privilege to invest in these local organizations,” said Bob Kornegay, advisory board president of the Duplin County Community Foundation. “This support shows how much we value their work.”
DCCF is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation and is led by a local volunteer advisory board. Each year, DCCF uses dollars from its endowment funds to make grants to nonprofits that help the local community.

Advisory board members live and work in Duplin County, positioning them to strategically leverage resources, meet local needs and access opportunities. In addition to Kornegay, board members include Debra Morrisey (vice president), Brittainy Kildow (secretary), Jayme Jones (treasurer), Wayne Branch, Kimberly Butler, Francisco Diaz, Ed Emory, Todd Minchew and Linda Smith.
