CALYPSO — North Duplin celebrated homecoming with a 49-8 romp over Carolina 1A football rival Union Friday evening.

DuJuan Armwood rushed for a season-high 225 yards and scored three first-half touchdowns on runs of 29, 63 and 3 yards. The senior finished just shy of his single-game, career-high of 234 yards rushing he set as a freshman against Lakewood.

Luke Kelly accounted for two touchdowns — a 15-yard pass to sophomore Lucas Dail and a 31-yard jaunt in the third quarter. The junior quarterback accounted for 74 yards of total offense.

Carell Phillips and Branden Reyna provided one touchdown apiece.

The Rebels amassed 400 yards rushing on just 25 plays.

North Duplin (6-2 overall, 1-1 Carolina 1A) travels to two-time defending league champion Rosewood next Friday. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Branch Pope Field.
