GOLDSBORO — Spring Creek remained unbeaten on the Neuse Six 2A boys’ soccer scene with a 3-0 triumph over Goldsboro Thursday evening.
Miguel Zepeda-Montes tallied an unassisted goal for the Gators, who extended their win streak to four games.
Marco Solis-Velasquez scored off an assist from Cristian Juarez-Lopez. Jeheili Velasquez-Sanchez notched his fifth goal of the season off an assist from Homer Lopez-Castro.
Goalies Joseph Vasquez and Edgar Avila-Anguiano combined for seven saves between the pipes. The duo combined for the Gators’ fourth shutout of the season and fifth consecutive clean sheet over the Cougars.
Spring Creek (8-8-0 overall, 4-0-0 Neuse Six 2A) visits perennial 2A powerhouse James Kenan on Monday. The Tigers have won three straight in the series and hold a 17-5-1 advantage since 2010.

Saints earn QCC road sweep
SMITHFIELD — Karlie Lane logged a team-high 15 digs defensively during Southern Wayne’s 25-19, 25-22, 25-15 conquest of Quad County 3A volleyball rival Smithfield-Selma on Thursday afternoon.
Lane also served two aces for the Saints, who improved to 10-9 overall and 6-6 in QCC play this season.
Mylee Wiggs just missed a double-double with 12 digs and nine kills. Jy’Asha Cousins collected 10 kills and five blocks. Gracie Hinson contributed nine digs, three kills and two aces.
Taylor Lee doled out 17 assists. Kara Davis had three aces and four assists.
The Saints travel to Fike next Tuesday evening and return home Oct. 12 for senior against county rival Charles B. Aycock.
Union topples North Duplin
ROSE HILL — Union turned back North Duplin 25-15, 25-20, 25-27, 25-22 in their Carolina 1A volleyball contest Thursday afternoon.
Reece Outlaw paced the Rebels with eight kills, three service aces and three digs. Addy Higginbotham contributed three kills, while middle hitter Eva Quintanilla posted nine kills and three blocks.
Meghan Martin provided two aces and six digs. Setter Lilly Fulghum handed out 18 assists, recorded six digs and served two aces.
The Spartans have won five of their last seven meetings against the Rebels.
North Duplin (7-8 overall, 3-5 Carolina 1A) returns home Tuesday for senior night against Rosewood.
