WILSON — Perennial prep football power Hunt turned an impressive defensive effort during its 45-0 shutout over Southern Wayne in Quad County 3A play Friday evening.
The Warriors permitted only one third-down conversion in 10 tries, forced two fumbles and held the Saints to 48 yards of total offense.
Ty Williams paced Southern Wayne’s ground attack with 38 yards on 17 carries. Senior quarterback Tez White managed a hard-earned three yards on 11 totes and failed to score a touchdown for the first time this season.
The Saints lost two fumbles.
Southern Wayne (2-4 overall, 0-3 QCC) looks to snap a four-game skid next Friday at South Johnston. Kickoff is 7 p.m. in Four Oaks.
