WENDELL — Southern Wayne started second-half play on the Quad County 3A volleyball scene with a 25-17, 25-20, 25-18 triumph over East Wake Thursday evening.

Taylor Lee dished out 24 assists for the Saints, who picked up their fourth consecutive victory over the Warriors.

Jy’Asha Cousins pounded out 16 kills and posted three blocks. Mylee Wiggs recorded six kills, six digs and four service aces. Amya Smith supplied three kills and two blocks.

Libero Karlie Lane collected a team-high 12 digs. Kara Davis and Gracie Hinson logged four digs apiece. Lesley Elizalde registered three digs.

Southern Wayne (7-7 overall, 4-4 QCC) is the guest of cross-county rival Eastern Wayne on Monday. The Saints step back into QCC play Tuesday at West Johnston.

Eagles down Rebels

Rosewood claimed its fifth consecutive win over Carolina 1A volleyball rival North Duplin 25-15, 25-11, 23-25, 25-9 on Thursday evening.

Meghan Martin filed 11 digs on her worksheet for the Rebels, who dropped to 6-5 overall and 2-2 in league matters this season.

Addy Higginbotham contributed two kills, two blocks and five digs. Eva Quintanilla collected four kills. Reece Outlaw delivered seven kills and seven digs.

Lilly Fulghum recorded 14 assists, nine digs and three aces.

North Duplin begins a stretch of three consecutive home games next Tuesday against Hobbton.
