The teams combined for seven turnovers.

The Saints (2-2 overall, 0-1 QCC) entertain West Johnston next Friday. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at the Doyle Whitfield Athletic Complex.

Bulldogs upend Rebels

HOLLY RIDGE — DuJuan Armwood collected two touchdowns during North Duplin’s 21-12, non-conference road loss at Dixon Friday evening.

Armwood scored on runs of 65 and 30 yards. The senior running back crept closer to the 2,000-yard career mark with a 131-yard effort on 16 totes.

His second TD closed the gap to 21-12 with 6:23 left in regulation.

North Duplin recovered the onsides kick after Armwood’s score. The offense turned the ball over on downs and Dixon ran out the clock.

The Bulldogs allowed 174 yards of total offense and handed the Rebels their first defeat in five outings this season. It was the teams’ first meeting since 2014.

North Duplin (4-1 overall) continues its three-game road swing next Friday at Bear Grass Charter. Kickoff is 7 p.m.

Union tops Spring Creek

ROSE HILL — Brennan Chambers tallied Spring Creek’s lone touchdown in a 28-6 loss to Union on Friday evening. It was Union’s first win in four years.

Chambers hauled in a scoring strike from quarterback DJ Deal.

“Another tough loss, but these are the types of bumps we have to take while we are rebuilding the program and playing a full season,” Gators head coach Ron Wise said. “We had plenty of opportunities to score more, but could not punch the ball in when we needed to. My hat goes off to Union and their coach on his first win. They stayed disciplined to their game plan and came out on top.”

Spring Creek (0-5 overall) returns to action Sept. 29 at Neuse Six 2A rival North Johnston.
