Weekly improvement on the links paid off for Southern Wayne during a multi-team, non-conference girls’ golf match contested at Southern Wayne Country Club Monday afternoon.
Saints sophomore Regan Stribble emerged as the medalist with a 49. She and her teammates posted a meet-winning, 160-166 triumph over Hunt.

Catie Schallert, Emily Webster and Chloe Sullivan competed for the Saints on a challenging, tree-lined course.
“The girls have been making good strides throughout the year,” SW head coach Trae McKee said. “I feel like we left about eight to 10 shots out there … I’m glad that the girls are enjoying the game of golf. It’s a game for a lifetime and this team is a really close-knit group.
“We are excited to continue playing and trying to get a little better every time we step on the course.”
“The girls have been making good strides throughout the year, I feel like we left about 8-10 shots out there if we clean up our speed on the greens”
Charles B. Aycock (173) captured third as a team. Goldsboro shot a 177, followed by Hobbton (181) and Wayne Christian (184).
Southern Wayne returns to action today at Lane Tree for a Quad County 3A Conference match. Tee time is 2 p.m.
“Lane Tree is going to be a good test for us,” McKee said. “It has a few holes that have some elevation changes, so hopefully they are looking forward to it.”
