The town of Mount Olive has temporarily hired a private contractor for household garbage/recycling collection.
The town and contractor plan to pick up all household garbage/recycling on Saturday, Aug. 5, beginning at 6:30 a.m.
The town’s garbage truck has been out of service since Monday, July 31, because of a mandatory repair recall.A part ordered for the repair has been delayed.
For the month of August, all residents will be issued a reduction on their bill for garbage collection.
The amount of the reduction is to be determined — it is still be working on, town officials said.
“We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding,” Town Manager Jammie Royall said.
