The Arts Council of Wayne County has myriad offerings in August. Come out and enjoy!

4th- A Trip to Israel: Images and Icons

Artist Beth Hill will exhibit a new series of work at the Arts Council of Wayne County in August 2023. Hill’s most recent paintings are inspired by a visit to Israel and include personal reflections of this devotional encounter.

“Major influences in my life have come from my faith and Bible readings so this journey to Israel made the black and white scriptures come to life in color while serving as a spiritual experience for me.”

Beth Hill lives in Mount Olive, NC, busily painting in her studio, participating in numerous group and solo shows, and accepting private and public commissions. A Trip to Israel: Images and Icons can be seen in the Arts Council of Wayne County’s new gallery at 139 W. Walnut St. Goldsboro, NC 27530. The exhibit opens August 1, 2023 and will be viewable by the public until August 29. The opening reception will be August 4, 2023, from 6 to 8 pm.

The Arts Council of Wayne County is producing a zine of short poems and reproduced artwork of local creative people. A zine is a small edition of inexpensively printed material that is manually distributed throughout a community. This opportunity to get the work of our talented writers and artists directly into the hands of an audience is just one more way to make sure the arts are thriving in Wayne County.

The zine is available for free at the three Wayne County Public Library branches (Pikeville, Mount Olive, and Goldsboro) and various other locations throughout Wayne County. These locations are determined on a basis of interest and may expand over time.

If you are interested, please email lewis@artsinwayne.org with your submission. Short poems may be of any subject and must be fewer than 30 lines. Artwork may be of any subject and must be shown completely black and white. Include a title and contact info or website to be printed with each piece.
