Hannah Diaz, 7, Angel Bartolon, 4, and Sophia Gomez, 9, held hands as they dashed through the sprinkler, again and again and again.

And after stomping in the mud hole created by the sprinkler, Angel held Sophia’s hands as she slung him around in circles, sending up a splash of waster as he slid across the mud hole.

The children were among those cooling off from the heat during Splash Day in the Park Thursday, July 13, at Westbrook Park.

After receiving a thorough soaking, the children enjoyed flavorful frozen treats before returning the water.

Sponsored by the Mount Olive Parks and Recreation Department, the free Splash Day in the Park is held from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays at Nelson Street Park and from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursdays at Westbrook Park.
