Wayne Community College officials are inviting the public to enjoy an evening of art and music during its Spring Fine Arts Festival.

The event will be held 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 27 in the Wayne Learning Center (building with the flag poles in front) on the college’s main campus in Goldsboro.

Close to 100 drawings, paintings and designs by fine art students will be on display in the Atrium. Music will be integrated into the exhibition with performances by student singers and musicians.

Art Instructor Angie Waller encouraged people to attend. “It is a wonderful way of supporting the talent that is within our college,” she said.

At 7 p.m., WCC’s Bison Community Concert Band and University of Mount Olive Symphonic Band, both under the direction of Dr. William Ford, will hold a concert in Moffatt Auditorium.

Wind, brass, and percussion musicians will perform a variety of songs, including “I Love My Love” by Gustav Holst, “King Cotton” by John Philip Sousa, “Carnaval in São Paulo” by James Barnes, and Calvin Custer’s “Appalachian Suite.”

“It will be a fun and exciting evening of concert band music,” Ford said. “The community really should come.”

The event is free and open to all.
