WILSON — Drew Sweet and Tyler Odom combined for a two-hitter during Southern Wayne’s 11-1, mercy-rule conquest of Quad County 3A baseball rival Fike on Tuesday evening.
Sweet allowed an earned run on two hits, walked two and collected a strikeout in three innings of work. Odom tossed two innings of no-hit, two-strikeout relief.
The Saints tallied 10 runs in the third and fourth innings combined.
Sweet (RBI), Jake Coates (RBI) and Cuyler Daly (two RBI) cranked out two hits apiece.
Odom, Alex Ferrell, Dylan Daniels (RBI), E’lla Boykin (two RBI) and Brayden McKee (three RBI) each contributed one hit.
Ferrell stole two bases.
Now 4-0 in road games this season, Southern Wayne (9-1 overall, 4-1 QCC) continues league play Friday at West Johnston. Game time is 6 p.m.
