CALYPSO — Reece Outlaw turned in a three-hit performance during North Duplin’s 7-0, non-conference conquest of Heide Trask on the softball diamond Friday evening.
Outlaw singled, doubled and tripled in three at-bats. The junior also drew a walk, scored twice and stole base for the Rebels, who extended their win streak to three games.
Addy Higginbotham batted 3-for-4 with a triple and scored two runs. Kasey Jones went 2-for-3. Riley Hatch and Sarah Tucker contributed one hit apiece.
Lilly Fulghum (4-1) emerged as the winning pitcher. The right-hander scattered five hits, walked one and retired four Titans on strikeouts. She coaxed Trask into a game-ending groundout with the bases loaded in the top of the seventh.
North Duplin (4-1 overall) travels to county rival East Duplin on Monday. The Rebels begin defense of their Carolina 1A regular-season crown at home Tuesday against Neuse Charter.
