Serving the Lord, being humble, obedient, and keeping our faith is one thing, so how is it we tend to allow cracks into our foundation? Mathew 7:24-27 (NIV) tells us, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
When it comes to our foundation, maintaining and keeping faith matters, both in the way a person views the world and in construction. For those that follow Jesus’ teachings, they’re like the wise man who built his house on a rock, but for those who chose to ignore Him, they’re like the foolish man who built his house on sand, in which these verses alert us to the fact that of course, concerning the violent storm, one will survive, and the other, will therefore fall, and fall hard. This is true for those who face the storms of life each day.
If we don’t study the Word daily, fast, meditate, or pray without ceasing, we tend to let the storm in, instead of continuously allowing it to just fester and brew around us. When times are good, we all sound like a believer, deciding that maybe it’s easier to just show up at church every week for an hour instead of developing roots that are deep and spiritual. When the storm clouds are hanging heavy over your life folks, just remember, this is when our foundation (our true faith), is tested and decreed to show if we can trust Him in the darkness.
When we were redeemed of drugs, porn, alcohol, anger, depression, stress, rejection, fear, loneliness, bitterness, or anything that was not of God, never forget that God promised us we’d survive the storm. Our spiritual strength is this “house,” it’s our beliefs and the result of the life we construct. Therefore, no matter what the enemy or the world throws our way, our foundation must not crack but instead stay sound. We must stand through it all and show ourselves approved.
Revelations 3:2 (KJV) tells us, “Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.” So, why would you let seep back into the cracks of your foundation what God has delivered you from? Yet if your foundation does have cracks, it’s never too late to do something to solve the problem. When a part of your foundation is splintered or broken, know that there is hope in the fact that it can also be restored.
My brothers and sisters in Christ, obey what you have heard and received from God, that if there are indeed cracks in your foundation, never forget to repent and start anew. We may fall short of the Lord’s glory, but don’t just fall and stay down, get back up. I have said it repeatedly. It doesn’t matter how many times you fall, because what mostly matters is the getting back up. Amen. Until next time folks, stay blessed!!
