GOLDSBORO — Jamaiya Bass and Ta’Niyah Glaspie helped lead unbeaten Southern Wayne past county rival Goldsboro, 43-19, on Friday evening.

A multi-sport athlete, Glaspie filed a double-double — 10 points, 14 rebounds. Bass knocked down 11 points for the Saints, who collected their fifth straight win over the Cougars and 18th overall in 32 tries since 2006.

Point guard Nevaeh Hines-Bass contributed nine points. Elaina Lane and Nygeria Thompson scored six points apiece.

The Saints (3-0 overall) extended their regular-season win streak to 25.

Lanajah Pocket tallied eight points during Southern Wayne’s 24-3 win over the Cougars on the JV girls’ scene. Jamya Hardy and Kymora Stokes supplied six and four points, respectively.

Southern Wayne returns home Monday for a non-conference battle against county rival Eastern Wayne. The JV girls tip off the quadruple header at 4 p.m.
