The Wayne County Public Library is taking its show on the road, so to speak, with its new mobile unit providing services all around the county, including three stops in Dudley every Wednesday: from 10:15-11:15 a.m. at the WAGES Parr Family Learning Center, from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Dudley Volunteer Fire Department, and from 2-3 p.m. at Southern Mobile Village.
Dudley residents are urged to take advantage of the Wednesday stops and the multiple locations.
Housed in a Sprinter van, it is equipped with a mobile hot spot and stocked with over 1,000 books (children’s, adults’ and large-print) available for check-out.
Assistant library director Maegen Wilson describes the mobile unit as “a bookmobile on steroids,” because it offers so much more than a traditional bookmobile. (For example, an awning can be extended from the van and carpet laid out, to provide a comfortable space for children’s story times.)
The public is invited to “check out” the library mobile unit at one of its Dudley stops.
Wayne County was last served by a bookmobile about 35 years ago.
