Avilez-Gonzalez won four consecutive Carolina 1A Conference meets, including the individual boys’ championship contested at Neuse Charter. Avilez-Gonzalez placed seventh overall in the Mideast 1A Regional ran at WakeMed Soccer Complex in Cary and qualified for the NC High School Athletic Association state finals.

Rebels head coach Kody Kennedy said, “Luis is an incredibly hard worker. He brings 100 percent effort every single day. I am so proud of him. It’s been a pleasure to work with him in the classroom and on the track.”
