Wayne County Commissioners approved a property tax decrease, in the form of a grant program, to assist Case Farms of Dudley in a $6 million expansion of their operations.

Tiffany Creech of the Wayne County Development Authority appeared before the commissioners at their meeting last Tuesday to request the grant approval.

$5.9 million is to be spent to construct a waste treatment plant, and some additional improvements. The grants comes from state economic development, with the county offering a 10% match in the form of a property tax rebate.

Mount Olive Mayor Joe Scott, who chairs the WCDA, also spoke in support of the grant application.
