A resolution honoring and recognizing nearly a decade of service to a local church by its associate pastor was approved by the Mount Olive Town Board of Commissioners in session last week.

Recognized by Mayor Joe Scott was Reverend Felicia Fox, an associate pastor at the First Baptist Church of Mount Olive for the past nine years.

Reverend Fox was unable to attend the meeting due to a previous commitment, but the resolution was presented to church member Rhonda Turner.

Reverend Fox has resigned from the church and her last service will be on Sunday, May 20.

“Felicia Fox is well loved and respected in the community,” Mayor Scott said.

He noted that church and area youth have been recipients of her inspiration and her efforts for youth programs have worked toward better education and a brighter future.

Ms. Fox is a graduate of Mars Hill College with a BA degree in religion and a Master of Divinity in Christian Education from the School of Divinity at Gardner-Webb. Mayor Scott said in presenting his resolution, “Felicia Fox has earned and deserves this special recognition.”

He said she has worked closely with students at the University of Mount Olive, as well as the children of the First Baptist Church.

He also noted that Reverend Fox’s ministry has carried her to locations in the Bahamas and Poland, as well as several churches in N.C.

He called her tenure here in Mount Olive one that deserves special recognition for providing a brighter future to many.
