The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department thanks the public for their help in identifying two men who tried to rob or harm a Mount Olive woman they followed from a shopping center parking lot in town.

20-year-old Javier Tyquan Gray of Apartment G2, 2801 Warrick Circle in Goldsboro has been charged with felony attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and has been jailed under a $50,000 bond.

Shortly after, Davonta Rasheed Sutton, 17, of 308 South Carey St., LaGrange, was arrested and charged with felony attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle. Bond was set at $50,000.

The incident occurred in early August and began in the parking lot at Walmart. Officers did not identify the woman, but provided video of the two would-be assailants and their vehicle when asking for the public’s assistance in locating the pair.

Investigators said two black males left a business in the shopping center and followed the woman to a point just outside of Mount Olive. The woman turned off the main road, they said, onto a farm access road on Old Mount Olive Highway. They said at that point, a male in a red shirt and light brown pants got out of the vehicle and approached the woman’s car. The man reportedly pulled out a gun and demanded she get out of the car.

The woman accelerated away and the suspect fired “multiple shots” at her, striking the vehicle.
