Commissioners offer deal to school board

Jennings Outlaw asked the school board to approve the commissioner's agreement Tuesday night.

Duplin Commissioners offered a deal to the Duplin School Board Tuesday night. In exchange for dropping the lawsuit judgement, the county would fully fund the schools' new budget current expenses request, and would base future school funding on that funding level. While the motion to accept the proposal Tuesday night failed, all school board members praised the proposal, and will reconsider it Thursday. Passage looks probable if no new problems arise. See Thursday's Tribune for more details.
