Lapoint featured at Outlaw’s Bridge
The Rev. Justin Lapoint will lead the service “Hosea Ballou was Right: The Problem With the Vicarious Atonement” at Outlaw’s Bridge Universalist Church, 4408 N. N.C. 111, Seven Springs, Sunday at 11 a.m. In 1805, Hosea Ballou wrote A Treatise on Atonement in which “he analyzed the doctrines of the Trinity and the vicarious atonement of Jesus and pointed out the contradictions” in them, according to Henry Cheetham in his book Unitarianism and Universalism. Rev. Lapoint will focus on the vicarious atonement and demonstrate how this doctrine has turned Christians away from the teachings of Jesus.
