United Way establishes relief fund

GOLDSBORO — United Way of North Carolina established a COVID-19 relief fund on March 20 to assist local United Way organizations statewide, including Wayne County.

The fund will help increase the capacity of local United Ways to meet basic needs. Donations are being accepted online. Donors wishing for their donation to be used locally should select “UW of Wayne County” on the donation page.

“We are seeing a lot of neighbors helping neighbors, and we want to be able to continue serving with that spirit,” said Sherry Archibald, executive director of United Way of Wayne County.

“If someone is looking for a way to financially support the response to COVID-19, we encourage them to give through this fund. This fund will increase our ability to reach out and serve.”
