Tyson withdraws name from chief consideration


Linda Tyson, interim Mount Olive Police Chief, has withdrawn her application to take over as chief.

A 27-year veteran of law enforcement, Tyson said she plans to retire sometime over the next several months. She has been with MOPD for five years.

According to interim Town Manager Jammie Royall, 15 applicants have shown interest in the police chief postion. Two currently work within the department.

The application deadline is Oct. 31.

Mayor Ken Talton, Royall and a citizens committee will review the applications. Talton hopes to name a new police chief in November.
