‘Tis the season! Here are the events you don’t want to miss

Greetings and happy Thanksgiving from the Wesley Smith Chapel community!

I hope each and everyone had a great and blessed Thanksgiving. There are several services coming up at local churches:

  • Alum Spring Church of Christ in Dover will celebrate the anniversary of its pastor, Elder Matthew McNair, at 3 p.m. Sunday with special guests, Elder Kenneth Freeman, the St. Luke Church Choir and its usher rendering the celebration.
  • First Baptist Church in Warsaw will present its Christmas Men’s March at 5 p.m. Sunday with several male choirs rendering music.
  • Higher Power Deliverance Church Ministry located at the Sleep Inn on N.C. Highway 55 in Mount Olive invites you to worship with the church every Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. Elder Clifford Southerland is the pastor. He invites you to come and fellowship.
  • Gospel Light UH Church in Mount Olive invites you to worship every first, second, third and fourth Sunday at 11:15 a.m. District Elder Dwight Morrisey serves as pastor at the church and delivers the message each Sunday. Bible study is held at 7 every Wednesday night.
  • Payne Temple AME Zion Church, 915 S. Center St., invites you to worship with the church at 11:15 a.m. every Sunday. Elder Sylvester Smith is pastor of the church.
  • Miracle of Faith Ministry, 709 S. Chesnutt St., invites you to worship with the church at 3 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, contact Evangelist Dorothy McDaniel at 919-658-4959.
  • Western Assembly’s annual Christmas program will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13 with a Christmas story and a Christmas carol provided by each and all of the churches in the Western Assembly that support and participate.
  • A worship and fellowship service will be held at St. Luke Church of Christ, 636 Waller Road, at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 15 with music by the church’s youth choir and the word delivered by our pastor, Elder Kenneth Freeman. After the service we will have our Christmas fellowship dinner. We invite you to come and fellowship. Merry Christmas to each and every one of you, from Elder Kenneth Freeman and mother Vesta Freeman and the St. Luke Church family.

    Congratulations to Elder Adrian Grandy, who received his Master of Arts degree in October from Queen University in Charlotte.

    Happy 39th anniversary to Ervin and Barbara Best, who celebrated Nov. 28, from your pastor, Donald DeWitt, and the Goshen Disciple Church in Faison, along with yours truly. May God bless you to have many, many more.

    Happy birthday to Craig Faison, better known as “DC Faison.” Happy birthday to one of my favorite cousins, Oletha Ward, on Nov. 15; Irnita Ward of Maryland on Nov. 28 from your husband, Reginald, and your children, along with Ezekiel and Lillie N. Ward, Patricia Bass and family, Lonnie and Cynthia Ward Manley and the Ward family reunion.
