Ring in the New Year with new services

Greetings from the Wesley Smith Chapel community. Merry Christmas!

  • Goldsboro Raleigh Assembly, 211 W. Hooks River Road, Goldsboro will sponsor its District Union meeting on Dec. 27-29 with Elder Terrell Powell preaching the word with Holly Grove Church of Christ Choir of Clinton on Friday night. On Saturday morning, the business session will be held at 9:30 for all members to attend. On Sunday morning, at 11 the Elder Rondric Coppedge is set to deliver the word. A light lunch will be served. Bishop Robert D. Hood and Vice Bishop Rodney Parker invite all to attend the last District Union of the year.
  • St. Luke Church of Christ, 636 Waller Road, St. James Church of Christ on Breazeale Avenue and the New Life Worship Center, 218 Maple Street, will join together for a New Year’s Watch Night service to be held at New Life Worship Center where the pastor is Elder Janice Williams. The following preachers will deliver the message: Elder Jean Ward of St. Luke, Elder James Crawford of New Life and Elder Carolyn Ward of St. James. Music will be provided by the combination choir. You are invited to come and be a part of the 2020 New Years Night service.
  • Join us for worship at 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 5 at St. Luke Church of Christ where Freeman will deliver the sermon and the choir will provide the music. We invite you all to join us .
  • The McDonald Sisters will present an annual gospel celebration on Jan. 5 at Abundant Life Church of God, 220 Pelt Drive, Fayetteville. Doors open at 3 p.m. and the program will begin at 4 p.m., featuring the McDonald Sisters and The Gospel Legends. There is no cost to attend. For more information, call 910-366-7934. Please bring non-perishable items and clothing to help bless someone in need.
  • St. John UHC, 706 W. Fremont St., Burgaw will host a “Lord, Teach me How to Pray” Prayer Conference at 7:30 each night on Jan. 13 and Jan. 14. Services will also be held at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 16-18 at St. Delight UHC, 976 La Grange Road, La Grange, where the pastor is Bishop Devin Pickett Sr. The pastor and lady Sharon Pickett invite each to come and fellowship.
  • St. John OFWB Church, 446 Jim Grady Road, invites you to worship every second and fourth Sunday at 11 a.m. Bible services are held at 10 a.m. The pastor Supervisor Demarius Stevens invites you to come and fellowship. Our prayers are with supervisor Elder Edmond Edwards, who was the pastor and has retired. Please keep Edwards in your prayers and let’s not forget to support the newly install pastor at the church.

    Happy 40th special birthday to my gorgeous niece, Latisha (Belinda) Ward Morrisey on Dec. 20 with a celebration held at the Terrace Room in Goldsboro on Saturday evening Dec. 21 with much love and support at the party. I love you much my niece and I pray that God will continue to grant and bless you with the desires of your heart.

    Here is a thought for the week: May God take care of all your needs, touch your life with joy and contentment, bless your heart with love and faith, comfort your soul with gladness and inner peace and grant you good health, lasting comfort and relief from the burden of life.
