North Duplin vs Gates County moved to Thursday

The 11-seed North Duplin football team has to make an adjustment as they found out today that they will have to travel to play 6-seed Gates County a day earlier due to the threat of inclement weather on Friday.

Coming off a two-point loss in their last game, the 5-6 Rebels were able to sneak their way into the playoffs after a 1-3 record in conference play.

They will go on the road to face a 7-4 Gates County team that is coming off a 44-12 win. North Duplin will be looking for their talented tandem in Luis Olivos and Saul Mendoza to carry them. Out of the 270 yards per game the Rebels average, Olivos accounts for 121 yards per game while Mendoza accounts for 70.

Mendoza also leads the charge on defense averaging five tackles for loss per game.

Game time is at 7:30 at Gates County High School.
