The opening of the new seafood and barbecue restaurant in downtown Mount Olive is being met with positive comments from customers early on.
Town manager Charles Brown said he and six others ate there when it opened.
He and those in the party all agreed on excellent food and service.
The town manager said everything he has heard has been positive.
He also said the price “was fine.”
Mount Olive Chamber of Commerce President Julie Beck echoed the same comment.
While Beck said she has not had the chance to eat there yet, she has noticed a continuous flow of customers going and coming from the new business at 128 N. Center St.
Empy’s Seafood & Bar-B-Q Restaurant opened two weeks ago.
It is managed and operated by Brittan Horrell, employs 15 and seats 48.
The menu features a variety of seafood: shrimp, flounder, oysters, scallops, whiting, clam strips, devil crab, crab cakes and catfish.
It says for land lovers there are: hamburger steak, pork chops, double cheeseburgers, a grilled chicken platter, barbecue plates and barbecue sandwiches.
The chamber of commerce plans to have a ribbon cutting and grand opening at a date that has not been set at this time.
Empy’s is opened seven days a week from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. and features either dine-in or take-out service.
Town officials have already said the badly needed additional restaurant in the downtown district is a major economic boost.
