NCDOT awards $5.5 million in contracts


The NC Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded contracts to three individual companies to begin work on four projects in Duplin and Sampson counties.

Barnhill Contracting Co. of Rocky Mount received two separate $1.7 million contracts to mill, resurface roadways and reconstruct shoulders on sections of Highways 41 and 111, and 31 secondary roads in Duplin County.

ST Wooten Corp. of Wilson earned a $1.6 million contract to resurface the road and grade the shoulder along of NC 903 and 12 sections of secondary roads.

All three projects will begin in mid-March.

S&C Construction LLC of Wilmington will replace a bridge built in 1962 on Houses Mill Road over Sevenmile Swamp in Sampson County. The project will cost $528,000.

During construction, travelers can use Rosin Hill, Church and Seven Mile Church roads as detours.

All four projects should be completed by the end of 2021.
