Two more positive COVID cases have been reported among town of Mount Olive employees.
Each contracted the virus during the holidays and are back to work now. One employee is fully vaccinated, according to Town Manager Jammie Royall.
He continues to urge all town employees to get vaccinated.
Royall expects to receive a list of vaccinated employees and said the Omicron variant may create a mandatory situation. Employees are still required to wear masks and be mindful of social distancing where applicable.
Visitors to any town-operated facility must wear a face covering.
“There is not really a lot we can do, except urge people to get vaccinated, wear a mask and just use common sense in protecting themselves and others,” Royall said. “I think if everybody cooperates and wears their mask we will be alright.”
Town officials are following safety measures put in place by county authorities. They do not see any need to shut down town facilities at the moment.
