Men of FIC to hold chicken plate sale Friday


Greetings from the Wesley Smith Chapel community! Our prayers and sympathy are with the family of Betty Lou Hill, who passed away on Thursday morning, Oct. 10 at a hospital in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Haskin Funeral Home Chapel in Goldsboro. For visitation with the family, you may visit at the home of Ralph and Carolyn Allen, 201 Pollock St., in Mount Olive or call Carolyn at 919-221-2379.

Several churches have events coming up:

  • Higher Power Deliverance Church Ministries, which meets at Sleep Inn on N.C. Highway 55 in Mount Olive, invites you to worship with the congregation every first, second, third and fourth Sunday of the month at 10:30 a.m. Elder Clifford Southerland serves as pastor at the church where Margaret Southerland is lady elect.   • The Men of FIC of Mount Olive invite each and all to stop by the American Legion building across from Best Used Car from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1 for its chicken plate dinner sale.   • St. Mark Church of Christ, 893 Lanetown Road, Faro, invites you to worship with the church every second, third and fourth Sunday of the month at 11 a.m. with Bishop Robert Dedrick Hood and Tachala Hood. Sunday school is held at 9:45 a.m.
  • Holy Tabernacle United Holy Church, 612 Hall Road, Roseboro, will host its Women’s Conference 2019 at 6 p.m. Nov. 9 with guest preacher Evangelist Temekia Michelle Newkirk Powell of Holly Grove Church of Christ in Clinton. The host pastor Elder Christopher Brown and lady elect Diana Brown invite you to come and fellowship.
  • House of Prayer, 235 Juniper Road, Faison, invites you to join them at 7:30 p.m. Sunday with Evangelist Mary Alppins set to deliver the message. At 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, Elder James Crawford will deliver the message. Elder Joel Cooper of Fayetteville will be the guest preacher at a 7:30 p.m. service on Sunday, Nov. 17. Church President Elder Velma McKinley and Vice President Minister Carl Faison invite you to come and fellowship. A prayer service is held every Thursday at 6 p.m. at the church.
  • White Oak Disciples of Christ Church in Newton Grove will present an appreciation celebration for Bishop Charles Williams at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, featuring The Sensational Nightingales of Durham with an evening of elegance, dinner and entertainment.   • St. John Original Free Will Baptist Church, 446 Jim Grady Road, welcomes you to come and fellowship with St. John every second and fourth Sunday with Bible study at 10 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m. with the church’s newly installed Pastor Elder Demarius Stevens, who was raised here in Mount Olive and is better known as Terry Stevens.   • An evening of Gospel at New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 12123 Old Lake Road in Reigelwood, will be presented by Majestic Funeral Home under the ownership of Eric Matthews at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. The event will feature Lamanuel Boykin and Company of Reigelwood; Tommy Ellison and The Legendary Singing Stars of Brooklyn, New York; Debra Barnes and The Barnes Family of Rocky Mount; The Gospel Legends of South Carolina; and Bishop Darrell McFadden and The Disciples of New York.     Final note

    Please keep Mother Betty Boykin in your prayers. She had surgery and our prayer is for a fast healing. God is so awesome. She is a great amazing woman of God and an example of how God is a healer. Get well soon Mother Betty.
