Danny McLean and Al Southerland from Men of FIC (Faith. Integrity. Character) presented a $500 check to Elder Lula Newkirk of Helping Hands United Mission.
Southerland also presented Elder Newkirk with a donation of $300 from Northeast Chapel Original FWB Church.
Each year Elder Newkirk and her organization gives out over 150 boxes filled with many food items.
Individuals may register for food boxes on Dec. 7-9 and Dec. 14-15 between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. by calling 919-299-4432 or visiting 113 S. Smith St., Mount Olive. Boxes can be picked up or will be delivered on Dec. 17.
Elder Newkirk has been doing this for more than 20 years.
