Local churches to host revival, family and friends day

I want to wish special happy birthdays to my daughter, Schenita Davis Randolph, on July 7 and my grandson, Joshua Alexander, on July 11 from Mama Glenda, your husband and daddy, Dante, and your daughter and sister, Kaelyn.

Dante, Schenita, Joshua and Kaelyn vacationed in Orlando, Florida, June 20-25 along with the Wright family.

The St. Luke Church of Christ worship service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday with Elder Kenneth Freeman officiating and the St. Luke Gospel choir providing music at the church at 636 Waller Road, Mount Olive.

The New Life Worship Center will render a service at 3 p.m. on July 14 at City of Champions Worship Center, 120 S. Berkley Blvd. in Goldsboro.

New Life Worship Center, 218 E. Maple St., Mount Olive, invites you to a pre-anniversary service for Pastor Janice Williams to be held at 7:30 p.m. on July 18 and 19 with Apostle Jacki London of Pillar of Fire Church Ministry in Warsaw officiating. At 11 a.m. on July 28, we invite you to help us celebrate Williams’ 25th Pastors Anniversary with Elder Matthew McNair, the Alum Spring Church Choir, and the usher and congregation of Dover, rendering the service. A celebration to climax the anniversary will be held at 3:30 p.m. that day and the guest speaker will be announced. Happy 25th anniversary to Pastor Janice Williams.

The Greater Six Runs Missionary Baptist Church, 400 6 Runs Church Road in Turkey, invites you to its Women’s Fellowship from 9 a.m. to noon on July 27. Shirley Moore along with lady-elect Joanne Morrisey invite you to join them.

St. James Church of Christ, 514 S. Breazeale Ave., Mount Olive, will celebrate Family and Friends Day at 11 a.m. on July 28 with guest preacher Elder Woodrow Grandy Jr. and the St. Peter United Holy Church choir, usher and its congregation of Magnolia. The pastor Elder Ernest and Evangelist Sadie Watson invite all to come and fellowship. Dinner will be served.

St. James Church of Christ will also host a revival service at 7:30 p.m. each day from July 31 to Aug. 2, with the revivalist preacher Dr. Timothy Pepper leading the service. More information will be given later.

A homecoming celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 4 at St. Luke Church of Christ, 636 Waller Road, where the pastor Elder Kenneth Freeman will deliver the word and the St. Luke choir will provide the music. Dinner will be served.

Congratulations to Jerilyn Lee on her retirement June 26.

Happy 48th anniversary to Roosevelt and Betty Jeans Jones, who celebrated June 27, and to Derrick and Charmaine Lassister, who honored their union on June 23.

Happy birthday to Tonya Blackmore Haygood, who celebrated on June 27, and Barb Jo Seale, on June 26 from your pastor, Elder Kenneth and Mother Vesta Freeman and the St. Luke Church family.

Happy birthday to Dynasty Robinson, who recently celebrated her eighth birthday, from your mama and daddy, Curtis and Jerrica Robinson; and to Lamekia Gilliam and Glenda Langley, who both had birthdays June 27.

Happy birthday to Betty Lou Hill, who will celebrate July 23, from your sister, Carolyn Allen.

Our hearts, sympathy and prayers are with the family of Jimmy Swinson, who was memorialized on Friday at First African Baptist Church in Goldsboro with Howell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Jimmy was the radio announcer for WOKN 730 AM. He was the son of the late Robert (Bob) Swinson and Sadie Coley Swinson. He is survived by one daughter, Avetta (Cookie) Swinson, of Raleigh, his brother, Reginald (Terrie) Swinson, of La Grange and five grandchildren.

Happy special birthday to my beautiful sister for life, Evangelist Temika Michelle Newkirk Powell, who celebrated June 28. May God bless you to have many more. We love you, from your husband Elder Terrell Powell, from Holly Grove Clinton, from your mother and father, Elder Carolyn and Elder John Newkirk of Rose Hill, and your entire family.

Happy birthday to Elder Brenda Taylor of Arapahoe, who will celebrate July 31, from yours truly Glenda and Carolyn Allen.

In memory of my mother, my brothers and my granddaddy, I would like to say a happy birthday to our Mama Ethel Weeks Ward on July 17; my brother, Arnold Ward, on July 17; Vancie Ward Jr., better known as Pete, on July 23; Carlton Ward, better known as Butch, on July 10; and Granddaddy Pervis Weeks on July 18, from your daughters Niecy Weeks and Earlene Moore and your grandchildren, Glenda, Dennis and Ronald.

I also want to wish a happy special birthday to my awesome, amazing, beautiful sister-in-law Dorothy Inez Ward on July 27 from your husband, Ronald Ward.

We at the St. Luke Church family would like to say congratulations to our Pastor Elder Kenneth and Mother Vesta along with their daughter Rosebud on the birth of their baby boy, Cardell Saint Freeman, born on June 16 at 1:21 p.m. at Novant Health Medical Center in Matthews. We love you all from assistant pastor Elder Velma McKinley and the St. Luke church family.

Happy anniversary to Kerry and Charlene Frazier of Calypso on June 28, from your sister, Patricia Jones.

Happy special birthday to my son’s nephew, Darrell Barksdale, of Raleigh, on June 28, from your mother, your son, Cameron Barksdale, and your entire family. We love you.
