A Dudley teen was killed in a shooting that erupted in the Dudley area early Saturday morning. Police continue to search for the shooter.
Deputies of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office were called to the area of Camp Trailee Road and Odom Farm Circle in Dudley for a report of shots fired around 3:20 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies say they found 17-year-old Damien Donall Dancy dead of an apparent gunshot would on Camp Trailee Road.
Dancy lived at 118 N. Running Deer Circle, one street over from the reported shooting.
The initial call advised officers of gunshots in the area. Wayne County EMS medics pronounced Dancy dead at the scene.
Although investigators say Dancy appeared to have died from a gunshot wound, the cause of death will need to be confirmed by an autopsy. The case is being investigated as a homicide.
