Don’t miss New Year’s Eve service and a grand reopening

Greetings and merry Christmas from the Wesley Smith Chapel community and yours truly!

I pray that everyone had a great Thanksgiving and that you bless someone by sharing some food. Yours truly spent Thanksgiving day with my babies and guess what, my daughter can cook better then I can! I know a lot of you are laughing at me and making the statement, “Glenda don’t even cook.” No, I don’t.

Happy eighth pastor’s anniversary to Elder Matthew McNair and his wife, lady elect Mary McNair. He is the Pastor of Alum Springs Church of Christ in Dover, where Elder Kenneth Freeman and the St. Luke Church Choir and usher rendered the service to help McNair celebrate the occasion. Freeman, the St. Luke trustees and St. Luke Church family would like to thank each and everyone for your donations and love offerings that you made to St. Luke Church for the paving of its parking lot. The love offerings are still being accepted for the parking lot.

    Final thoughts

A homegoing celebration for Ethel McCoy, better known as Sissy, was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15 at Holy Temple United Church in Calypso. She is survived by her son, Ricky and his wife, Christy of Raleigh; three sisters, Betty Goodman of Mount Olive, Bernice and her husband, Clarence Barksdale, and Betty and her husband, Joe Lanier of Grantham. A celebration among her host of nieces and nephews was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Holy Temple UHC in Calypso. Our sympathies, prayers and love are aslo with the family of Mrs. Ruth Harper, who was funeralized at 1 p.m. Friday at Burning Bush UH Church in Faison. Garris Funeral Home handled arrangements.

I would like to thank God for the new Restaurant, Empy’s Seafood and Barbecue. Now we need a Denny’s to serve breaksfast all day.

Here’s a thought for the week: A real man never hurts a woman. Be very careful when you make a woman cry because God counts all her tears. Thewoman came out of man’s ribs not from his feet to be walked on and not from his head to be superior, but from his side to be equal. Have a merry Christmas and remember to show love to one another.
