County facility to honor late commissioner

A. Joe Gurley, III, is receiving a posthumous honor.
The former Wayne County Commissioner who passed away in May will have the county’s new 911/Emergency Operations Center named in his memory.
Wayne County Commissioners approved naming the new facility the “A. Joe Gurley, III Emergency Services Building” in a recent meeting.
Gurley served the citizens of Wayne County as the District 4 Commissioner since July 2014. He was appointed chairman of the county board from December 2018 through December 2019.
