Happy birthday to Evangelist Alma Darden, who celebrated her 80th birthday at St. Luke Church of Christ in the fellowship hall on March 23.

Happy birthday to Lady Vickie Flow on March 25 from your husband, Elder Anthony Flow and your family at St. Luke United Holy Church of Rose Hill.

Happy birthday to Wilbur Bass on March 22 from your family, your wife, Brenda, and all of your children and grandchildren.

Happy special birthday to Evangelist Mary Ward, daughter of the late Pete and Minnie Ward, on April 1 from all your brothers and sisters, and from yours truly. Thank you so much for being my in-home nurse after my back surgery on Feb. 4. May God bless you to have many more birthdays!

Our prayers and sympathy are with the family of 56-year-old Curtis Johnson who passed away March 25. His homegoing celebration was held March 30 at 11 a.m. at Best Grove Missionary Baptist Church on Tommy’s Road in Goldsboro. Curtis will surely be missed.

April is Youth Month at St. Luke Church of Christ. On Sunday at 11 a.m., join guest preacher Evangelist Mary Ashford and the Stanley Chapel Youth Choir. On April 21 at 11 a.m., the St. Luke Youth Choir will render the service with the pastor, Elder Kenneth Freeman, delivering the message. The Youth Day speaker will be Brother Earl Boseman. You are invited to come and help the youth celebrate. Their theme is “Willing Workers.”

St. James Church of Christ on Breazeale Avenue, Mount Olive, will have a worship service on April 14 at 11 a.m. with the pastor, Elder Ernest Watson Sr., delivering the message.

Deliverance Temple Ministry, Dudley, where the pastor is Apostle Lester Coward, invites you to worship every Sunday morning at 11 and this Saturday at 6 p.m.

Hull Road Free Will Baptist Church, 2660 N.C. 258 N., Kinston, Women’s fellowship service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. with guest preacher Apostle Kimberly Armstrong and Mount Zion Church of Deliverance, Calypso. The pastor is Wanda P. Williams.

Holly Hill Church of Christ, 644 N. Beston Road, La Grange, will celebrate Elder Broderick K. Robinson and Lady Elect Nikki Robinson’s fourth pastors anniversary to be held Sunday at 11 a.m. with special guest Apostle Hattie Stancil of Harvest Word Ministry of Zebulon. St. John Original Free Will Baptist Church, 446 Jim Grady Road in the Beautancus community, Mount Olive, will celebrate Family and Friends Day on Sunday at 11 a.m. with supervisor Elder Edmund Edwards to deliver the message and music by the choir. Congratulations to Waqiah Ellis for being winner of the 2019 Outstanding Women in Business Award. Cone Health is proud to support Waqiah Ellis as executive director of nursing/patient services at Moses Cone Hospital for her outstanding contribution to executive leadership business management and community involvement. Waqiah Ellis is the wife of James Ellis and the mother of two boys, the daughter of Burness King of Fayetteville and the daughter-in-law of Shirley Riddick.
